Recent Sales Noted on Ebay
I have begun listing here recent sales made on Ebay as a way of helping people value their insulators. Of course your insulators are only worth what someone will pay, but it's a start.
The details are reproduced here as they were on Ebay with some trimming, but including spelling mistakes!
The postage quoted was as advertised at the time, actual postage depended upon the bidders location. It is merely present to give an indication of postage variations as the extortionate then becomes obvious

Great Central Railway, Brown Varley Telegraph Insulator
A fantastic example of a rare Varley pattern Telegraph insulator, with a deep groove for Heavy Gauge Wire. Clearly impressed G C R. for the Great Central Railway. This example was recovered from the Great Central & North Staffordshire Joint Line in Cheshire. Made from a glazed brown stoneware, with a seperate white porcelain inner shed, cemented in. The iron spindle is also cemented in as this is probably a pre-cordeaux pattern. I have only ever found TWO intact versions of this pattern, and this is the only completely undamaged one. Usually the inner sheds have fragmented due to the corrosion of the iron pin. Amazingly there are NO cracks and NO chips, and the gloss finish is fantastic...despite being buried for many years.
