Recent Sales Noted on Ebay

I have begun listing here recent sales made on Ebay as a way of helping people value their insulators. Of course your insulators are only worth what someone will pay, but it's a start.

The details are reproduced here as they were on Ebay with some trimming, but including spelling mistakes!

The postage quoted was as advertised at the time, actual postage depended upon the bidders location. It is merely present to give an indication of postage variations as the extortionate then becomes obvious

Earthenware Telegraph Insulator Wade Ireland c1925
insulator

Glazed earthenware insulator. Clearly marked P &T with the embossed trade mark of a hand - The red hand of the Irish Province of Ulster. These we gather were made by the Wade Pottery of Ireland. P&T: The original Department of Post and Telecommunications began in 1922 with the appointment of James Walsh as the Postmaster-General. On January 1984 the Department of Post and Telegraphs split up into two semi-state bodies - Telecom Eireann (The Telephone Service) and An Post (The Postal Service). Measures: 4.10" High X 3.35" diameter. Condition: Very Good. Two chips that are way-inside and not really visible. Remember this is a small country and we are dealing in a diminishing commodity - bid with confidence.

GWR G.W.R. RAILWAY TELEGRAPH PORCELAIN INSULATOR LINE
insulator

White telegraph porcelain insulator from the Great Western Railway clearly marked GWR. The inside and thread are in good condition. There is a small chip on the iside base and a crack in the porcelain glaze, which you can see in the photo. I suspect the damage was done a long time in the past, as the chip and the crack are both heavily smoke blackened from all those Kings and Castles that passed beneath. There is another mark on the top that looks like VI or maybe IN. Buyer pays postage.

Ceramic electrical insulator
insulator

This is an auction for a large ceramic insulator that would be a fantastic addition to a contempory design garden, or equally would give a more traditional space a cool sci-fi ambiance. As hopefully you can see from the photos the insulator is hollow inside and so could easily carry cables for a light or hoses for a pump. The piece is fairly large at 112cm(44") x30cm(12") and really heavy and so postage is impractical, but contact me for a price for delivery and your obviously welcome to collect or view.Any questions please give me a shout, good luck with the bidding.

A rare opportunity to own a ceramic current rail insulator from the London Underground. This item is in very good condition with no cracks or breaks to the ceramic. There is surface rusting to the rail support, but no other damage. Manufactured by Doulton, the ceramic bears the legend L.T.B. 317/P10 and a logo that I can't really identify. GWR TELEGRAPH LINE INSULATOR ON CAST METAL BRACKET
insulator

YOU ARE BIDDING FOR A PAIR OF PORCELAIN TELEGRAPH LINE INSULATORS MOUNTED ON THEIR ORIGINAL CAST METAL ARMS. insulator
Bullers varley railway telegraph insulator GWR

A tatty looking Varley pattern telegraph insulator and pole top mounting bracket, I found this while walking along a disused section of GWR railway line in worcestershire. I have identified what seems to be the Bullers logo, there dont seem to be any other markings. An educated guess and information from websites suggest this could be quite an early insulator, probably from the victorian era. It is in one piece with no deep cracks although as you can see from the picture the glaze is heavily crazed and rust stained from the steel wire that was attached.

1961 Red Bullers Railway Telegraph Insulator

This is a 1961 red Bullers power transmission insulator. It is in very nice condition with no cracks or chips just a slight fade to the glaze due to weathering. It also has a small amount of smoke staining left on which would easily come off if required, I have left this on as I found it. There is also a very clear Bullers makers mark and date stamp.

insulator
UNKNOWN ITEM PROBABLY TELEPHONE WIRE INSULATOR

Quite an attractive little item made of china or porcelain. It has an intentional groove in the top. My reason for thinking that it is a telephone wire insulator is that I found it in a lane half buried at the bottom of a telegraph pole. The lettering shows a PS or SP monogram, a number 1927, possibly the date but there is part of another number or letter in front of it that I can't read, another number1328 3. It's about 3.75 inches high and weighs 367 grams. No chips or cracks.
