An Australian Bullers Pole
A Bullers Interchangeable Pole
I recently received an email from Australia regarding an interesting survivor of the Telegraph age
Hi, Could you help me with some dates on this telegraph pole I picked from the Roe Plain, Western Australia? It was part of the Overland Telegraph Line from Adelaide to Perth. The pole has raised lettering BULLERS LIMITED LONDON PATENT INTERCHANGEABLE POLE the insulators are marked BULLERS LTD LONDON.
The pole complete with insulators
Bullers Limited London. Patent Interchangeable Pole
After viewing the images and I suggest the insulator is dated c1900 - c1910 and after reference to 'Bullers of Milton' by Sue Taylor, I found this image of Bullers Poles. It would appear from its design the pole in question is part type D and a simplified part type E
